Newest calibre on Ubuntu

I would like to install the newest version of Calibre (which according to the download page is 0.7.47) in both 32 and 64 bit Ubuntu 10.10. Is it safe to assume that I will need to build it from source since the one that keeps showing up in the repositories is only 7.18?

Thanks,

No, it is rarely safe to assume anything. Go to Calibre's download page for Linux and follow the directions to do a Binary install of Calibre.

1) do not install from the Ubuntu Repository: It is old before it the distro is released (Calibre's cycle is weekly, Ubuntu is semi-annual .
Just open a terminal and paste that (long) command found on the Linux download page. Great Joy
(NB it runs well on 10.10)

Thank you very much for your help. I misunderstood what I was reading on the download page. It worked like a charm!
