Bob Mayer backlist 0.99 to 2.99 (Kindle)
Bob Mayer has a couple of books listed for 99 cents each. One is backlist, written under pseudonym, the other appears to be from last year. You can find a lot of his backlist for $2.99, originally published under pseudonyms Greg Donegan and Robert Doherty. The Atlantis series seems to have been published now under all three.
ATLANTIS, by Greg Donegan, Robert Doherty and Bob Mayer Book Description By NY Times Bestselling Author Bob Mayer writing as Robert Doherty (author of the bestselling Area 51 series) Over 1,000,000 copies sold! Amazon Hot 100 in print. Amazon Top 10 in Thriller. “Spell-binding! Will keep you on the edge of your seat. Call it techno-thriller, call it science fiction, call it just terrific story-telling.” Terry Brooks, #1 NY Times Bestselling author of the Shannara series and Star Wars Phantom Menace What if the Shadow that destroyed Atlantis 10,000 years ago, comes back to threaten our present world? A war beyond time. An enemy beyond space. A thriller beyond your wildest dreams. Three areas on the Earth’s surface defy explanation: the Bermuda Triangle, the Devil’s Sea of Japan, and a small region of Cambodia. Inside these realms, planes have disappeared, ships have vanished, and, in Cambodia, an entire civilization has been lost leaving behind Angkor Wat. In 1945, Training Flight 19 disappears in the Bermuda Triangle. In 1963, the USS Thresher, a nuclear submarine, is lost under unusual circumstances, part of a secret government investigation into mysterious gates. Near the end of of the Vietnam War, Green Beret Eric Dane led a team of operatives deep into Cambodia and encountered a strange fog near the legendary city of Angkor Kol Ker. His entire team disappears, attacked by strange creatures out of the fog. Only Dane survives to return. Now a plane goes down. In the same area Dane lost his team. He’s called back. To find out who is the darkness behind these gates to our planet. What does this Shadow force want? It is a threat that will take on the world’s greatest military forces and defeat them. A power that will overwhelm our science and technology. A merciless enemy that will lead Dane—and the whole planet—into the final desperate battle for survival. If you enjoyed LOST, you’ll love this book and be amazed at the similarities in concept (although this book was published before Lost). Chasing the Ghost (Black Ops), by Bob Mayer Book Description Covert operative Horace Chase has been chasing ghosts his entire life. First, his Medal-of-Honor winner father who died in Vietnam without ever meeting his son. And left him the legacy of an automatic appointment to the Military Academy at West Point which shaped the next thirty-five years of Chase's life. Then, the ghost of his mother, who died while he was at war in Afghanistan and wounded, causing him to resign his commission and return to the United States, a lost soul. Chase now wears two hats as a Federal counter-terrorism liaison to the local police department in Boulder, Colorado where he becomes embroiled in two seemingly un-related cases. Working as a detective with Boulder PD he chases another death, this one the apparent rape/murder of Rachel Stevens, an upscale housewife attending night classes at the University of Colorado. And with his counter-terrorism team he is embroiled in a series of killings involving a militia group, a rogue ex-Special Forces officer, a psychopathic ex-CIA contract mercenary, and ruthless drug runners. From the streets of Boulder, to the highest railroad tunnel in the world, to a swingers club hiding in plain site in suburbia, Afghanistan starts to look pretty good to Chase. |

Hey, I really appreciate you listing my books in such detail on this post. My first book came out in 1991, and now I've been bringing my backlist back out in eBook and I find it an exciting time to be an author and a reader. Readers like you who find these kinds of things make it all worthwhile-- honestly, I sell more eBooks of my Atlantis series beause of these forums in one month than Random House does of my Area 51 series in six months, which gives you an idea of the power of the reader.
Thank you! |

How cool! Nice to get a note from an author (who stops by after the readers post). I've got two of these on my Kindle now to try, but may have to get the rest soon. With the Area 51 books, the price is not that bad, but it does mean half the books if on a budget (at least they haven't raised the prices to trade paperback prices, since that's the format they seem to use by default these days, rather than MMP ... which is up to $10 in some cases, now).

And one for free:
Duty, Honor, Country, A Novel from West Point to The Civil War They swore oaths, both personal and professional. From the Plain at West Point, through the Mexican War, to the carnage of Shiloh. They were fighting for country, for a way of life and for family. Classmates carried more than rifles and sabers into battle. They had friendships, memories, children and wives. They had innocence lost, promises broken and glory found. Duty, Honor, Country is history told both epic and personal so we can understand what happened, but more importantly feel the heart-wrenching clash of duty, honor, country and loyalty. And realize that sometimes, the people who changed history, weren’t recorded by it. This book is big, almost twice the length of my usual books, because the story demands a large scale. |
