Google Expands their Market to include eBooks
Google's Market now has support for their eBooks. According to sources one can read the books via the web page and also send it to your Android phone, just like being able to send an app to your phone. Here is the link.

Geo restrictions is bad. Publishers need to be more flexible.
The books are downloaded to your phone if you have Google's "Books" app installed. Also you can read the book using their web browser. This can be done on the PC or the web. =X= =X= |

If I remember correctly Android does not use IP to filter instead it uses carrier codes.
Before when I was unable to access some apps using market enabler to spoof an American carrier and get apps not available here. Maybe doing the same could be used for getting books. |

It only works in the usa, i heard it only works for 300,000 people or so, so says google. Its only on the web market and not the android version of the market. They might also be adding music and video, but the same lawyer that did the youtube purchase is the same lawyer trying to make the music thing go through. The Book thing is a pre-cursor to the ebook section baked in the google market for 3.0 honeycomb devices such as motorola xoom

Just found out about this. Very cool. More competition, more incentive to move to ebooks, more reason for the evil book publishing triumvirate and Apple to bite me!
Looks like many reviews of the books as well --- from GoodReads. Last edited by kennyc; 02-26-2011 at 06:31 AM. |

I've tried it, but they have problems. I just ordered Brad Sanderson's Mistborn and got Bury Your Dead by Louise Penny. With B&N, there is a phone number you can call to get things sorted out. With Google, we have to fill out a form and hope that someone gets back to you.

edem that sucks! Yeah Google does not do the customer service thing at all. I remember when they tried to sell the Nexus One through their site. So many people had problems, the only way to get into contact with Google was to post on their forums and hope that someone would see your thread. Which is why like 5 months or oless after they sold it on their website they stopped. Google can provide good services, but when they sell products they just don't have the infrastructure to do proper customer service.
