Books not Loading

I was hoping you can help me.
I have the 505 for over 2 years and it is great. Suddenly I have found that I cannot load books the the device. They just hang. I generaly use the Sony software and have also tried Cailbre. The software sees the reader OK and I can delete books etc but I cannot load. Books are in EPUB format.

Hi, Billydog. Are you transferring books to the internal memory of your 505? Perhaps you have reached the maximum limit of the internal memory?

I recall that when the 505 internal memory would get low that it would hang-up in the Reader Library software. I used to leave 10-20MB free on the internal memory. I then started transferring books to an SD card as my book collection grew too big for the internal memory.

yes I am transfering to the main memory. I deleted a few books to make sure it wasnt memory but might do more now to see if this is the issue. I kinda suspect its not. Not at home right now.

It's possible that there is space available, but either one of the internal system files is corrupted, or that the user file system has been corrupted and needs reformatting.

If this is what has happened, you should be able to recover by doing a complete factory reset on the device.

The only other possibility is that something got broken in Calibre due to an update or changed option somewhere, if that's possible.

I don't think I'd go as far as a factory reset yet. You could try deleting the media.XML file to force it to recreate itself or reformat the internal memory first.

Also are you trying to transfer multiple books? My 505 would hang when I tried to transfer multiple books that exceeded the memory limit or got it really low. Have you tried transferring one book at a time first?

Also have you tried a power on/off cycle yet or soft reset?
