Low Cost ISBN?
Does anyone know where I can by a low cost ISBN? The only thing I can find online says is your have to buy 10 of them at once for $250. Seems a little kooky. What are some other options?

Might depend on where you are... we got ours in a block of 10 for about $100 here in Australia ( http://www.thorpe.com.au/isbn/ )

Depends what you want one for.
Createspace will assign you an ISBN for free. Smashwords allows you to assign a free ISBN if you publish through them, or gives you the option to buy one for $10 to move around with your ebook. Two very low cost options for you. Arigato, Nick Davis |

no easy way around this if you want an ISBN with you as the publisher. If you know you're only publishing one book, you could do something like this for half the cost:
http://jcpublishers.net/page.php?76 Note: I know nothing about these guys, possibly could be a scam, but $125-$150 is the price I've heard bandied about. If you're doing more than one print book, and you're set on having your own ISBNs then $250 is what you're looking at. |

My Identifiers
My Identifiers, Bowker runs the ISBN's in the US. And their pricing is a bit crazy if you ask me!
https://www.myidentifiers.com I know there are resellers of ISBN's that supposedly sell them for less, but I do not know if they are actually legit and how to tell the difference. I ended up biting the bullet and buying my ISBN's in bulk. I think your best option is probably going through Smashwords, $10 is reasonable and they are at least known to be reliable. Amy |
