Calibre 0.7.45 feedback and thank you

I have just installed the new version on Mint Linux (an Ubuntu clone)
Installation went great, as usual.
New features seem to be working great.

I can't believe the speed of development.
After I have read the Changelog, I was literally jumping up and down with excitement while the download and install finished.
The option to limit searches to certain fields is fantastic, removal of yellow bands has been on my wishlist for a long time, new tweaks interface will be less intimidating for people that aren't used to editing config files manually.

Thank you Kovid
Thank you developers

I don't know if this is related to the new version or not but it is taking several minutes to
save a book to main memory on Kindle 2 from my Calibre library. It never took this long
before.

A couple books where 1 mb but a large percentage of them where any where between
.2 to .4 MB. The one thing is that some times it is quick and other times it just takes
3 to 5 minutes or longer. I had never seen this before take so long.

Are you sure it's not being converted before being sent?

I'm betting your suspicions are correct and the books are being converted during the send to device.

Just wanted to know what prompted the change to making newsfeeds load onto the main device? I don't mind (and I love Calibre!) but I had always loaded them to the SD card. Was this causing a problem with some devices?
The new system is fine, I was just curious.

From the changelog:

# When automatically sending news to device, send to main memory preferentially, if it has enough space.

New Version

Not sure whether it is this version or earlier but the speed now of re-writing after editing metadata is impressive. Used to take ages bit fabulous now.

Still think there is a problem with searching the Calibre library. Quite often if I type in a title (and it is correctly typed) it does not find the book. If I type in the author name usually finds it no problem. Last year I struck this problem and Kovid requested a sample. I sent in my Calibre library and and a problem was found but not necessarily an answer. These were the good old days when my Calibre library probably had 100 books in it! It is rather large to send now with in excess of 3,000 books.
As a Kindle owner I regularly try to help other users in handling their libraries and always thoroughly recommend using Calibre. Great work Kovid and development team. Keep it up.

The books are already in the correct kindle format and no conversion was taking place
by choice.
