Problem with recognitiom of russian file and folder names
I'm using calibre 0.7.35. Converting a russian book from html to pdf calibre refuses to save it to disk with the following message:
WARNING: Could not save some books: Could not save some books, Click the show details button to see which ones. Вьюга теней Traceback (most recent call last): File "site-packages\calibre\library\save_to_disk.py", line 375, in save_serialized_to_disk File "site-packages\calibre\library\save_to_disk.py", line 251, in do_save_book_to_disk File "os.py", line 157, in makedirs WindowsError: [Error 123] The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect: 'D:\\books\\??????? ?????' The folder name is Алексей Пехов. If i go to the containing folder the file name (Пехов Алексей - Вьюга теней) is transliterated into V'iugha tieniei - Piekhov Alieksiei. So what ihad to do is to copy - paste the name & cut - paste the file to disk. Is there a way to save russian files directly? |

In the saving to disk options in preferences make sure you have convert non english characters to english option checked.

Thanks for the speedy reply, but it did not quite solve the problem :the file is saved to the folder with the filename transliterated in english and only if the folder name is in english.
If the folder name is in russian i still get this message: WARNING: Could not save some books: Could not save some books, Click the show details button to see which ones. Чапаев и Пустота (fb2) | Либрусек Traceback (most recent call last): File "site-packages\calibre\library\save_to_disk.py", line 375, in save_serialized_to_disk File "site-packages\calibre\library\save_to_disk.py", line 251, in do_save_book_to_disk File "os.py", line 157, in makedirs WindowsError: [Error 123] The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect: 'D:\\orbit\\New folder\\?????? ???????' There's no solution to that, you will just have to use folder names in english and move the files after saving by hand.
