I've been trying iBook and Amazon Kindle applications on my iPad and they are really good, but for sure I use more the Kindle application for reading my ebooks because I buy them for my Kindle DX and it syncs with all my other Kindle applications at my Mac, Android, iOS and PC, but Apple done a great job with iBooks on the GUI.
If you want to feel like reading a book at the iPad on a very great way, more human-interface and elegant you should choose for the iBooks and their ePubs, but if you want to read your ebooks on a lot of different devices, the best application is the Amazon Kindle one for sure, that you can sync all your books in many devices Twitter: http://twitter.com/nathanpc Podcast: http://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/d...ng/id417311352 Blog: http://developmentcloud.blogspot.com/ ![]() |

The problem as I see it, Nathan, is that iBooks has an intolerably small booklist. I would buy from Apple in a moment if I hadn't burned out from so many episodes of Amazon having what I want (in multiple free versions, often, if it's classics) but Apple not having even the current popular writers. I love the Apple bookpage turning, something everyone with a new iPad shows their friends, but ----- you gotta be able to buy the books!!
And this Amazon supplies, through the Kindle app. |

What is the Kindle DX the best for? Every reader is the best for a certain type of person and in my humble opinion its the best if you want the reader to read your book to you. I know its a large format reader like the ipad and the Bookeen, but I am yet to see anyone compare all three. When you compare your Kindle DX to your Ipad which is better to you?

I'm actually trying to convince myself of getting one for my wife and sell my Kindle DX too. I read computer books on my DX so I do need a big screen, otherwise the SQL code will cut off or look weird.
Any more input when comparing both? Also, I wonder how good or bad will be for my eyes. I had some issues with Nook Color and eye strain plus small screen were reasons for me to return the device (not to mention I find more computer titles at Amazon) Last edited by jocampo; 02-13-2011 at 10:17 AM. |

I use ibook for reading epub and I have never purchased a book from Apple Store. The reader is just nicer. I use iCab-mobile ($2) to download off manybooks or any of the other free ebook sites directly to my iPad.

I personally use iBooks for ePubs and Goodreader for PDF's.
I initially manage my collections with calibre and then connect that to iTunes. |
