Don't forget to turn off the WiFi. If you don't, it'll continue to drain the battery while it's in the "off" mode.

Makes no sense to me...

The battery will very slowly drain when in sleep mode (with Wi-Fi on), but there's absolutely no reason the battery would drain when the device is totally turned off (push the power button for a few seconds), even if Wi-Fi was on before shutting off the device.

Is there some information I am missing?

Many people consider it turned off by simply clicking the power switch. That's why I put it in quotes.

Of course, when it's completely turned off, it doesn't matter if WiFi was on or not.

I never bother to turn off the wifi unless I'm going to be away from a charger for over a day.

Thanks for the information. I can see where the "off" could mean hibernation (or sleep) and not literally turned off.

Instead of starting a new thread, I figured I'd add my question here. I just purchased a Color Nook. Just like my Classic Nook, it goes to sleep after awhile. But, with the Classic Nook you can force it to go into sleep mode by pushing the power button. I have found that if I quickly push the power button on the Color Nook, it seems to do the same thing (go into sleep mode).

However, it doesn't say anything about this in the Color manual. The only mention of the power button is that if you want to really turn it off fully, you hold the power button down for 3 or 5 seconds.

So, my question - is it OK and do I get sleep mode by just quickly pushing the power button on the Color Nook? It appears that this is the case, but I wonder why they don't tell you in the manual. I don't like waiting for it to sleep.

That is sleep mode, conserves a lot of battery on the NC. No idea why its not in manual, owned a Nook before the NC and just figured it out myself like you.

I was wondering the same thing after reading the manual. For the first few days I had it, when I was done I would just let it sit until it went into sleep mode. Then I finally realized you can tap the power button to put it into sleep.
