3 free episode books
Hi,I just wanted to share 3 good ebooks that I read, available freely in episodes.
By order of "finishness", the most complete is "The Unfinished Song: Initiate" is available by blocks of 500 words (28 thus far) with beautifull art, but also available complete (.99$), or for free under conditions. Second one is "Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality", 69 chapters of a great alternative reality fan-fiction for Harry-Potter. Last one is "Seeking North", a starting (4 episodes now) shared world/universe science-fiction book by three authors (CJ Cherryh, Lynn Abbey, Jane Fancher). Only starting, but GREATLY promising ! Disclaimer :I'm in NO WAY directly linked to the authors, and have no monetary incentive in either of these books. Do you know of any other "free" episodic ebooks ? |

Maybe not truly episodic, but Michael A. Stackpole organizes The Chain Story. Short fiction by many different talented writers that is loosely tied together by the fact that all of the stories are "told" by the various patrons of the fictional Wanderers Club.
The stories themselves are on the various author's websites but Stackpole maintains the "hub" where the overall table of contents (and links to the stories) can be found. |

Do you like to read episodic fiction as it comes out, or wait until there is a lot of it and then read a large amount all at once?

It depends on the frequency. I love reading monthly or bi-monthly episodes as they are released. It gives me something to look forward to. But when there is no set frequency -- and the gaps turn into months or years -- I prefer waiting until I have a backlog (or preferably completion) before picking it up.

Yeah, I generally prefer to wait until there is a complete series or collection or whatever it may be, and then read the entire work all at once.

I usually wait for finished books. One pretty good series is the Firestaff Chronicles by James Galloway (aka Fel).
