Anne Rice and angels

Just finished reading Anne Rice's "Angel Time" and "Songs of the Seraphim". It had been a while since I read any of her works so I picked up "Angel Time". I enjoyed it so much that I followed it up with "Songs of the Seraphim". Both were very enjoyable reads. And following those, an abrupt shift to Janwillem van de Wetering's "Outsider in Amsterdam". I am enjoying it. The humour is very "understated"...

I don't think I've read her angels series - is it really good? I liked Interview with the vampire, but I couldn't finish the second book of her vampires series. I like angels though, and I would love to read her take on them.

Well, I have been reading her books since "Interview with the Vampire", I think in the early 70s. Most of them I really enjoy. Lately she seems to have experienced some spiritual and philosophical shifts in her life and I was interested in finding out how, if at all, these may have spilled over into her literary works. The two Angel books were enjoyable, and they provided food for thought. The plots and character development were tight and I enjoyed them. It is fun to read about angels, and a very nice concept to imagine. She cites a book about angels entitled "The Angels: In Catholic Teaching And Tradition" by a Rev. P. Parente. Anyway, at the end of the second book she left herself wonderfully positioned for a sequel. ~jim

Thanks for this! I'm really intrigued by the philosophical and spiritual shift in her life - I think I'm going to try her first angel book and then see if I'm hooked enough for the second (and following?) ones.
