Calibre won't launch in Jaunty

Installed Calibre from binary:

install directory= /opt/calibre

launch applications/office/calibre;
"Choose a location for ebook library";
I select a folder; click open;
Calibre closes....
Kindle is attached;

you've got atleast two problems

1) two calibre installs, you presumably installed the distro calibre and then installed the official binary without uninstalling the distro calibre forst

2) Permissions problems on the calibre config directory
