can calibre convert other format to azw? if afirmativ, what is there to be done?

Just select Mobi as the output format. Mobi is Kindle's default DRM free ebook format.

I've already tryed that, but mobi format on kindle doesn't show some specific fonts (romanian - latin 10). So, I need to save rtf, doc, etc as html, send it to amazon and let their system to convert the file from html to azw which looks right in my language. I just wanted to manage things on my own, and let amazon out of the loop... Thanks for your post!

Grapho - as far as I know, azw is simply mobi format encrypted with Amazon's Digital Rights Management coding. The problem you're having is most likely to do with the character encoding specified when you convert a file. Have you tried using Kindlegen to convert the HTML to MOBI?
