First Time Rooting, you convinced me! I need help though.

Great. I got a micro SD card and rooted today.

I'm not sure if it went off 10x10. I followed the guide at:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=872490

I ran into two bumps:

My NC was on, but sleeping when I put the imaged card in. I plugged it in, and it woke up but didn't seem to be doing anything. After ten minutes, I slid the button to unlock it. It went into USB mode, and I let it sit for another ten minutes. Nothing.

I disconnected it and powered it off. It wouldn't power on. I removed the card and it did power on, and told me to touch the android, then proceeded with setup.

I was concerned for a second that it kept referring to the device as a phone, but I know that Android OS is usually on phones so that didn't bother me.

Everything looks exactly the same. I have the YouTube and Gmail apps, plus a bunch of others. I'm still learning how to use it, as I've been a diehard iPhone OS user for several years.

I got my gmail/youtube/market running. Is that it? My custom wallpaper carried over, and everything. I've tried to run through the rooting process again, but haven't been successful.

Thanks for your input!

Ok, since then I have completely wiped my device and started over.

I updated to 1.0.1 and then powered the NC off and dropped in my auto-nooter micro SD card.

I plugged it in to the computer and nothing happened for ten minutes. I tried to power it on and nothing happened, so I let it sit for another 10 or so, and it powered itself on.

Is that all there is to it? Is it really that simple?

I watched this guy and did it his way. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MUoHALWvPts After it rooted, I downloaded ProLauncher from the market. I was really busy this weekend and didn't get to play - but looking to download Dolphin Browser (when the Dolphin Webpage is back up! They don't have the version for nook color on the Android Market and send you to another page) Good luck. I am a newb and really can't help, but I know there are several here who are experts!

Yea! It seems to be working great now, I just need to get more familiar with the OS. I love how the keyboard has changed, though I'd be totally jazzed if I could get the same KB that my iPhone uses.

I'm looking at loading a flash apk right now. YouTube works, but flash vids on sites through my browser don't.

Wow! Great link, thank you! I used a different rooter, but the result was the same. Great confirmation.

Thank you again!

You are going to have issues with flash videos because the NC is running 2.1 (Eclair). Eventually it will have an optimized version of Froyo running

What keyboard does your iPhone use?

PS: Keyboard installation can be tricky. You usually have to move the apk file from data/app to system/app. See my very recent post RE: GingerBread KB if you run into problems.
You probably will either need to use the adb shell commands (which I couldn't get to work right for this), or download (purchase) root explorer.
