Power: 220-Volt Capable?
Hello,
I couldn't find any information on whether the power supply on this device can handle European voltage. I'm hoping all I would need would be a form-fit adaptor. Can anyone verify this? Thank you. |

Yes, it is 110-240 volts 50/60hz. So all you would need is a plug converter to be able to fit it into your socket type.

I'm in the UK and have no problems using the mains charger. The only thing I had to do was to replace the american plug with a figure-of eight shaped connecter, leading to a British plug. And I already had a spare from a defunct radio.

I have a US to UK plug adapter that I've used with my Rio Karma and that would also work fine with the Sony as well.

In China the charger plugs in directly to the 250V 50 Hz supply. No problem.

You could use a plug adaptor, but it's not generally recommended that plug adaptors be used for "permanent" use. Since the Reader uses a separate power cable with a standard "figure 8" connector, it's very easy to simply replace the cable with one with a standard UK or European plug.

thanks
Thanks for your replies. I can't wait till my Reader arrives! Living abroad has limited my library access and made Amazon inconvenient. Been reading books on my laptop for 6 months, and then I saw someone using a Reader.
