Which software to use?

I just got a sony 350 reader. I am trying to decide which software to use with it, the sony software or calibre. I mostly want to download library books (epub). and I want something that is easy to use. Which would you start with?

thanks, this is all new to me.

Jenn.

If you want to download library books you will have to download the Sony software to get the proper drivers. After that you can either continue to use the Sony software or download Adobe Digital Editions.

Either Sony or ADE are required to initially download library ePubs and PDFs. Once the book is downloaded you can use Calibre if you wish to transfer to your Reader but that seems overkill to me.

Many people use Calibre to manage their library of ebooks from sources other than public libraries.

Also, please note that if you plan to purchase any ebooks, either Sony or ADE is again required as the ebooks have DRM.

Since your main interest is library books, I recommend that you start with the Sony Reader Library software. The Sony software will also give you access to free books offered by Sony as well as anything else in their bookstore. If you don't like it, then you can switch to Adobe Digital Editions to transfer your library books. They are both free programs so you can always try both and see which you prefer. I use the Sony software for managing my library because I like its ability to sync my collections and books between my computer & ereader. It works just fine for me. However, many people like to use ADE too.
