announce thread for new releases

( for those of us who never shut down he program - & use sleep function on PC)

how about an announce sticky posting for when there's a new release - with changelog highlights)

I only found out about 7.4, & missed 7.39 because of discussion threads. my install had not gotten around to checking for updates while that was happening, probably because it had not been shut down + restarted ?

There is generally a release every Friday excepting Holidays etc. A release might pop up mid-week if a bug deemed critical was included in the end-of-week release.

I guess you should count yourself lucky that you missed 0.7.39.

The fact that you might be delayed in updating without an announce thread isn't reason to create one. But I think the one positive an announce thread might have is to provide a centralize point in which initial trouble reports could reside.

and placing the changelog summary there , as well as on the downloads page, would be informative

For new releases info, you could use the RSS feed at calibre's website.
