Calibre dont detect sony prs 500 ubuntu 10.10

Hi!

I have installed the new version of Ubuntu 10.10, and calibre from repositories,
And with newest version of ubuntu calibre dont detect my sony prs500

support for un-upgraded prs-500s was dropped a while ago. Go back to calibre 0.6.x

Why was it dropped? There are still many owners of un-upgraded prs-500s like myself, and one of the main uses for Calibre is as an alternative to Sony's crappy software.

I first started using your software when it was called libprs500, its main reason for existence being the prs-500. Would you consider re-releasing a stripped-down version of libprs500 and getting it in the repos so linux users can access their prs500 thru usb? Recent versions of Calibre could use it to support the prs-500.

Sorry, I have too many other priorities. You are free to use an older calibre release, they are still available in many places or submit a patch or send your reader to SONY for a free upgrade, which willa llow modern calibre versions to work with it.
