Maybe I'm jumping on these too quickly. This is the second "free" book that shows $0 initially but wants me to confirm a total cost when I try to download it. I think it's time for me to sit back, take a deep breath, and wait until later.

Appears not to be free after all... it showed as $0 on book details page, but when I added it to my cart the cost showed as $13.46.

This (and the others) were free when I posted -- I got them all at no charge (don't have any billing info there, so it won't let me buy anything but free books). Now, I see one more, Messages: The World's Most Documented Extraterrestrial Contact Story, and it is doing what you have reported. Looks like Sony has half-way fixed their error in pricing (but not enough to stop the product pages from showing $0.
