Precise page scrolling?

Hi, just started using Calibre and have not decided on a reader as yet.
My question is: If I have an eBook in lrf format it scrolls exactly one page e.g 1.0, 2.0, 3.0 etc.
If I use epub format the page scrolling is random e.g. 1.0, 2.0, 3.2, 4.5 and so on.
Also paging up and down on the same epub page drifts the page up a little more each time so that the previous last line move upwards a little more.
Is there a solution to this?
I much prefer to use epub as I can search and use the online dictionary.
