PDF/DRM wierd stuff. Any explanation?

I downloaded a book in Adobe PDF format from the library to my PC. I then loaded it to the 4GB SDMC on my reader using the Sony Reader software. When I tried to open it, I got a "Protected by DRM" message and it would not open. I then loaded the book to the main memory of the same reader the same way without deleting the SDMC copy. When I opened the copy on the main reader memory, it opened OK. I closed that copy and opened the copy on the SDMC and it opened OK also. I then deleted the copy on the main memory and tried to open the copy on the SDMC. It opened OK. Does anyone have any idea why or what is happening? Why can't I open an Adobe PDF book I loaded to the SDMC only?

No reply after 24 hours.

I guess noone knows why this would happen since it has been 24 hours and no response. Oh well, I'll just see if it happens again.

All I can think of is that direct-to-card ("external device") transfer isn't recognized as "legit", but once a "legit" internal transfer has been done, the external gets to piggyback along?

I've had a similar issue with sync'ing audiobooks.

That would seem like the most likely scenario to me. Copying to the SD card and not the internal memory seems to not trigger an Adobe authorization to read the ebook. Copying to the internal memory trigger the Adobe authorization which in turn authorizes any other copy of the same book on the device.

At lease all of the above sounds good in theory.
