I'm looking to buy a broken Kindle. I'm fine with any Kindle model, and any amount of damage, as long as the serial number is visible and it's not currently registered to an Amazon account. Post to this thread or PM me and we can decide on a price. Thanks!

I know... If you want to buy books and remove the DRM you can do that with the Kindle for PC so I dont know what you need a non working kindle

Maybe they don't know how to unregister the one they have? I don't know anything about Kindles, but maybe? As to why they can't find out from Amazon, I won't speculate.

Doesnt matter since the ebooks are tied to the kindle serial number so it does the stolen kindle no good... you would still need to remove the DRM
