Hey everyone,
I have an epub document that already has chapter marks (if I view it in calibre's viewer the ToC button shows all of the chapters just fine) but when I convert to MOBI there are no chapters shown. I'm assuming I have to change the chapter detection somehow, but I'm not sure what it should be. The chapter headings are images in the file, but there are additional (non-chapter breaking) images as well. Thanks! |

This should not happen, unless you have set Preferences -> Conversion / Common Options -> TOC -> Force auto-generated TOC. If this is set, try unsetting it.
If an ePub has a TOC, there is usually no need to auto detect chapters (they are already in the TOC). Unfortunately, quite a few ePubs don't have a TOC (in a crime against ePubs) - so auto-detecting is necessary. You would not normally force the use of the auto-generated TOC unless the ePub's original TOC was not good enough. |

No, I made sure to have the "Force TOC" off. I left the detection xpath as the default as well, as I assumed it would just use the already-present ToC, and thus the xpath would be irrelevant.

Then try checking that option and see what happens. I don't use Mobi, how do you know the TOC is blank?

Tried checking it, still nothing...
I know that there isn't a ToC because when I open the MOBI in calibre's built-in viewer, the ToC button is just greyed out (can't even click on it). |
