error 10013

Hey all, :*)

Just got a Kindle for Christmas. I'm having trouble sending periodicals I got via "fetch news" to my XXXXX@free.kindle.com account. Just tried converting and sending an epub book. The conversion was fine, same error message though when an attempt was made to send the book.

error(10013, 'An attempt was made to access a socket in a way forbidden by its access permissions')

I've tried several things so far. Checked that my Kindle acct was set up properly to receive emails from my gmail account. Double checked that all my email addresses were entered correctly. Tried sending it to the address: xxxxx@kindle.com and got the same error message as above.

Is there anything else I could try?

I've gotten around the issue by connect my Kindle directly to the computer and can get everything on my Kindle that way. It'd be an added convenience to get my news updated via WiFi though. :*)

that error means your operating system has policies in place to prevent programs from sending mail from your computer. You can try using a mail replay like gmail and see if that helps, in the email preferences.

I am using a gmail account. I am able to receive .pdf files attached to my gmail account. It' just not working when I use calibre.

I wonder if it could be my firewall settings? I'll have my tech-savvy husband take a look. :*)
