change 5 minute delay for smtp?

I have calibre setup and running to pull some news feeds and email them to my K3. I notice that there is a 5 minute delay between sending of each item. I run my own exchange server and this delay isn't necessary - is there any way to change this setting?

if you use an smtp relay other than gmail or hotmail, there will be no delay
