Calibre Confusion

I'm new to this forum and to Calibre, so i'm hoping to find an answer. I've got a Kindle DX.

When I hit the button Add A Book, the program works for few seconds and supposedly the book is then added to Calibre when I then hit the Convert button and the book is to be converted, however a notice comes up and says that it "Could Not Convert. It is a DRMed book. You must first remove the DRM using a third party tool."

I thought the purpose of Calibre was to remove these DRM's and convert the files into readable text on my pc. What Gives??

Where do I find DRM removal tools and how is this DRM removed? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi ReadyRedFox,

Calibre only converts NON-DRM books. You first must remove the DRM then use Calibre to convert to the format you want to read on your device.

Hi ReadyRedFox and welcome to MobileRead. We don't provide or even discuss how to remove DRM on MR. There are places on the internet that do however.

Good to have your company, RRF. Sadly, as morally justified as it might be, stripping DRM is illegal and we can't discuss it here. But you will find simple instructions all over the net. You should have an easy ride once you get the hang of it. Very best wishes. Neil

Welcome to the forum! I agree to do some googling online to find the answer to this question, as it can't be discussed here. Good luck

Confusion

Thanks to all for your replies. I can see that I misunderstood Calibre and have since gone to some sites researching ways to remove the DRM extensions.
