Kindle + Content server

ok. I've gone through Google and this forum and I can't find anything to help me. This is frustrating.

I'm using a mac OS 10.5.8

I have (the newest) calibre and the content server on at port 8080

I have my router port forward set up to route 80 to 8080

I have my dyndns set up with an address and working.

I can view the content on my browser at both the local ip address and my dyndns domain.

I can view other website on my kindle (K2, i.e. no wifi)

Last night, after fooling around with my settings for a while, my kindle could access the content server.

Tonight it says, "The Website you requested is not responding".

Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?

thanks

Well, obviously you broke something. Is the DynDNS and port forwarding still set up? Can you reach it from another computer? Is the server actually running?

There are some things to check.

1) using a dyndns name will almost certainly not work from within the network containing your server (the 192.168 one). It is very rare for a home router to support loopback routing. Is your kindle connected to a network outside of your home network?

2) you might have a dynamic IP address from your ISP. Did you set up your router to inform dyndns if the external IP address changes?

3) Do kindles support DNS time-to-live limits? If not, then it could be using an old IP address. Reboot your kindle and try again.

yes, I got someone from a completely different country to try my dyndns webpage and it worked. I'll attempt re-booting the kindle ....

thanks.
