The Kindle for Christmas Reactions Thread!

So how did the people who got Kindles for Christmas take it? Obviously it's not Christmas, yet I have plenty of cause to get this thread going. I'm giving (or gave rather) my Mom a K3. She's a huge reader but not technologically inclined at all. It also turned out she's got a bit of an impatient streak. All of a sudden I catch her fiddling with the package saying: "You didn't wrap it quite right!" I didn't realize correctly wrapping it involved taking the Kindle out of the box! Her first words were: "There are so many buttons!" But I told her all she really needed to focus on was the one that turned the page.

Since then, it's been several hours since anyone's seen her. How long do I have to wait to file a missing person's report?

So if you got a Kindle, what did you think??? If you gave a Kindle, how did they take it???

I sort of got my Kindle as a gift. Well, I was sending money to my sister so that she could get me one but she decided to pay for half of it as a Christmas present when she said that I thought I had to wait for her to come home from overseas. I was ecstatic and gave her a virtual hug when she sent it on early. I have long since behind on all my online games, opting to stay in my room with my Kindle reading novels, computer books and fanfiction. I'm almost sure she loves it. It only took me a day or two to get used to it and I'm such a late adopter when it comes to gadgets.

I'm giving a Kindle WiFi to my son's girlfriend and hopefully her reaction will be:

Great! Now let me return that Sony Pocket Reader I borrowed from you 7 months ago.

You'll be lucky. I wouldn't mind one myself - especially if it's free!

I got my mom a kindle, she's the same way. She can play solitaire, check her email, and go to google (which she uses to type her URL) - that's about it. So I'm hoping she doesn't give up on it. Last time I saw her she was asking questions about my kindle so that's a good sign!

LOl, I bought one for my mom as well, while she is not very technologically advanced I am more concerned she will be buying the wrong books for her kindle. She is a big B&N book purchaser, I briefly thought about buying her a Nook but what kind of Kindler would I be if I did that. LOL! I am looking forward to seeing her reaction but not to the many days I will spend showing her how to use it.

I love this thread and every post on it.

Bless all of those who are giving Kindles for gifts.

My sister gave me one for an early Christmas/Birthday gift in October. It has truly been one of the best gifts of my lifetime. I have been given more expensive things, but nothing that has brought the world to me the way my Kindle has.

Gave the Mrs a Kindle wi-fi. She has a Kindle 1 and at first she didn't seem real excited saying her current Kindle was working fine, why a new one? Then after firing up the Kindle 3 she is loving the better text quality, says books load faster, pages turn faster, loves the combo power cord / USB cord, and on and on. She hasn't put it down in hours.

I'm part of the Kindle Club now.. woohoo!

Kindle 3 (3G)
Red M-Edge Executive Jacket (w/ 4 pt straps)
M-Edge e-Luminator2 booklight

It arrived Friday morning.. hubby ordered Thursday
night after he discovered none were to be found at
local Best Buy.. lol.

It's taking some adjusting after using my Sony 505
and I can see why everyone complains about the
Collections..hehe.

I'm loving the screen, contrast, page turns!
