Is Calibre manual available as an eBook?

I know this is a noob question, but I'm wondering if I can easily read the manual (offline) for Calibre on my Kindle 3? Can I download the Calibre user manual in some sort of eBook format?

The main page of the manual has the manual available as a epub.

Interesting. I just downloaded it, and it opens perfectly in Calibre......converted to .mobi and it took 10 minutes 13 seconds.

Some books, especially detailed ones like this one, do take longer. I just walk away and wait.

it will be worth it to read on my kindle and learn the things I may have overlooked so far.......

It opens in calibre's reader fine for me. Are you on a flavor of Linux? What version of calibre are you using? If you are using Linux install using the recommended binary installation on calibre's download page. Repositories often cause problems.

In my experience, calibre never stalls on a conversion. Calibre may error but if it seems stalled it is always the impatience of the user. Calibre usually steps straight to 47% then to 67% then to complete. Some books may take literally hours to complete, to convert this book to mobi takes between 10 and 12 minutes to complete.

I was able to print the whole manual from calibre's viewer to a PDF document the same as any other document I want might want to print to PDF. I use Adobe for the PDF printer but there are many other PDF print drivers.

Managed to make a mobi - took about 20 minutes on a medium-speed PC with XP.

Tried to make a pdf too but it created a file with 5,000 pages! - yet to work out why and have another go!

Thanks for the help

I don't know how big the manual actually is so I can't say if this is excessive or not. However, if you have a device profile set (presented with the welcome wizard) PDF output will size the PDF pages to the size of your device's screen. You will need to letter or a4 (Europe) as the page size in the conversion settings if you are intending to print.

I had another go with some different settings for A4 paper and the "default" format (rather than Kindle) and it made about 850 pages .. still seems a lot but I'll make a copy open it in Acrobat Pro and prune it down to the stuff I actually need.

Looks like the mobi version will be OK on the Kindle
