When sending to Device, auto-convert ignores preferences
Hi,
in the preferences under "Common Options" I added a check to "Insert metadata as page at start of book". But when I send a ePUB to my Kindle3 and I'm asked if it should auto-convert it (to MOBI) it ignores this setting: no page is added. What am I doing wrong? (I'm using the latest version) PS: Is there a way to remove 'tags' from this metadata page? Cheers, Stephanos |

You need to go to your Calibre program directory and find the subdir resources. (On my Windows XP machine it is C:\Program Files\Calibre\resources) Inside there is a subdir called jacket (contains 2 files). Copy the jacket subdir to your Calibre config directory. Once it's there you can edit the file jacket/stylesheet.css in a text editor. Towards the end of the css file you will see the following: Code:
table.cbj_header tr.cbj_tags { /* Uncomment the next line to remove 'Tags' from banner section */ /* display:none; */ } Once you open Calibre again it should use your newly customised jacket rather than the standard one. If this is not detailed enough for you, feel free to ask for more specifics. |

Cool, it works! Thanks a lot!
Are you also familiar with the problem I described above? To summarize it: 0) Checking "Insert metadata as page at start of book" in preferences 1) Connecting Kindle3 2) Selecting book with ePUB file and sending it do device 3) Popup "No Suitable Formats" appears, click "Ok" to auto-convert 4) MOBI is created and sent to device But the file on the device/hard drive has no metadata page! Cheers |

The global change you made will automatically affect all books not previously converted. |

Ahh- thanks for explaining
![]() Is there also a way to reset the settings when "auto-converting" to a device? Because in this case I can't uncheck the "Use saved conversion settings for individual books" because it happens in the background... Last edited by stephanos2k; 12-16-2010 at 06:14 AM. |

You might want to consider converting your books ahead of time. |
