Locked Content after 1.8

I know I saw someone else had this problem today, and spent some time searching the forum without luck. However it is likely going to be a FAQ after this upgrade.

I deleted all ADE books, deauthorized and reauthorized my O-K in ADE, and re-copied one book onto the Kobo using ADE. Still showing "The content you are trying to view is locked" trying to open it.

Now what? I have a sneaking suspicion I have to do a factory reset (say it isn't so!) but is there a faster fix? Thanks!

I ran into the same thing after reverting back to 1.4 this morning to test the update via desktop. De-auth, factory reset, auth, and reload of ADE books did fix it, but I ran out of ADE authorizations before I could test more options.

I did try everything you did and even deleted the adobe directory off the kobo and that didn't help.

I think the upgrade is supposed to deauthorize you ADE but it didn't for mine and doing it manually (CTRL+Shift+E) and then reauthorizeing the Kobo made no difference as the content was still locked.

For me I had to do the factory reset to get ADE books to work after the upgrade. Maybe someone else has a different fix.

I had to do a factory reset as well. the instructions said that you had to reauthorise your device - which I did but all my ADE books (library books mostly) were locked. I did a factory reset, reauthorised, then reloaded my books, now they are all readable. I have posted on kobo's facebook support page suggesting they add this to the instructions.

I agree. Updated my wife's kobo last night and had the same problem with ADE (had it with my other Kobo as well but thought it was a fluke). Since I knew that a factory reset would work it wasn't a problem but there is nothing in the upgrade instructions(I paid close attention while upgrading the second kobo to see) which indicate it might need to be done to get ADE to work again.

Just an update ... did a factory reset, caused ADE to have "too many activations", so I had to open a web ticket with them and wait "up to 3 business days". Fortunately the current book I'm reading is a Kobo-purchased one. My Kobo is now busy copying the 54 native-format books. Upside: They will all be in kepub format now.

As a beta tester, I went through my 6 device ADE limit several times. Adobe never took more that 24 hours to reset it.

Thanks to you and taming and all other beta testers. I can see how time-consuming it must have been!

Just a reminder, but if you have update problems--including locked books, the first post of this thread is as close to a FAQ for the update as we have right now.
