May have sold another one!

So the other day, I took my daughter to the orthodontist and of course, brought my reader along. While she reclined in the chair waiting for her adjustment, I sat on a stool next to her reading. The orthodontist came over and, before even looking at her, asked me about the device. I spent several minutes extolling its virtues while all the assistants gathered around to ooh and ahh. He seemed seriously interested in getting one for his wife. I spent more time "selling" the reader than he spent on the kid's teeth (we were in for a routine adjustment)! And really, I just wanted to get some reading in, he just kept asking more questions.

Oddly, when I took it to a gathering of geeks (BBQ + playing Risk, Magic, etc) there was much less excitement. Strange how some techies don't care about anything that happens away from the computer. Even my husband, an avid reader, isn't interested in one yet.

Of course the beanie boys won't be interested yet. It only has one tiny LED on the side. Heck, my keychain has 3!

Now pop on a couple bright blue lights and give it a cool paint scheme and you'll never see it again!

(Seriously, I'm REALLY having to fight painting one of my readers to match the Halo3 pattern from the Zune. How very, very sad.)

Maybe you can find one of those vinyl appliqués? Or perhaps some of that self-adhesive printer paper ....

Dude, if you figure out how, or where to get a vinyl covering for the Reader that is like the Halo 3 Zune then please tell me how! I would love to do something like that to my Reader.

Lumio. I have the same reaction wherever I go with mine. I think Sony is really dropping the ball on this thing. They need to advertise a little. I feel like I am on the front wave of people who bought Cd's over vinyl records, or DVD's when Vcr was hot. This e ink technology is so obviously the way of the future for books..
