Recovering Notes

So my iREX 1000S seems to be broken (for the moment at least, but it probably needs repairs).

However I'd be very eager to get to my Notes, taken with the Note taking app.
(Release 2.0 of irex software).

I know the notes can be opened using xournal on the iRex. Is there some way to add this functionality to the linux version of xournal?

If not, is someone willing to convert a few notes (6 at most) to pdf or xournal?

Best regards,

Marc Dirix

I seem to remember that the xournal app for the DR can save its notes in xournal's native format. These can then be opened in xournal in windows or linux. As I'm on a Mac I haven't tried this, but Macx may be able to help you. (My DR1000 is at the office just now)

I have not really looked into this, some dr-specific libraries are used, but since the source code is available it should be possible to also build them for 'desktop'-linux. (Note that the DR is also running linux, so the DR-version is also a linux version of xournal, but I understand what you are asking for.)
The DR-version of xournal has some specific changes for the DR (like location of config-dir, adding new files to global.db etc.) It would not be that difficult to add the import feature to the desktop-linux version, but it would take time to do this. My time for the near future is limited, maybe someone else has time to take a look at it?

I see that fekhner already offered to help to convert to files, if you need any support from me, then send me a PM.

Good luck with the repair of your DR. (Since iRex is bankrupt, more people will be wondering where they should their DR repaired when it is broken. So if you find a company that can, please let the other forum members know.)

Marcel.

Lately I could see this thread:

Is this program just like what you mentioned?

Meanwhile, it's very helpful program for me although I never knew there is it!

I also completely forgot this program. It is indeed a must have program when you have a Windows PC.
