Funny you mention this. I was at my local WalMart earlier this week and glanced at the eReader section. Silently laughed when I saw an old Sony 300 prominently displayed in the case and nothing else. Same exact display from a year ago. Unreal.

Good to know a WalMart somewhere carries current models.

It might be fun to go down to Walmart and start asking questions. I like to do that to the Best Buy employees, they are completley clueless about eReaders and alot of other things as well. I'm something of a home theater junkie and I LOVE to inform people of the BS Best Buy employees sling around, especially their Monster cables/HDMI's they push and their all around lack of knowledge but I digress

Walmart is just too easy
but good place to have a product though. Walmarts are almost always packed.

I called my local Wally World a month or so back to see if they had any ereader covers or sleeves (was wanting to save for a nice one at Amazon in the meantime). "What's a Kindle?", she asked me. "An ereader", I said. "What's that?" Me: *big sigh* Nevermind.

Remember when monster cables first came on the scene several years ago? Salespeople were always trying to get you to purchase those things.

Well, Walmart came through for me and my wife with the Best Buy Black Friday $99 Nook wifi. I wasn't about to wait in line for one, but my wife remembered about 2pm that Walmart said they would price match any competitor's Black Friday sale price. I thought by that time the sale was over at Best Buy, but checked online and found out that it was good all day. I then confirmed a Walmart press release that they were indeed honoring Black Friday ads from their competitors.

The next step was checking store availability at local Walmart stores for the Nook wifi. I found a local store that had several in stock and my wife was off to purchase two for $99 each. The only thing the manager at Walmart did was call the local Best Buy and confirm that the $99 price was good all day. Once confirmed, my wife purchased both for $99 each rather than the Walmart retail of $148 each. As this was after 2pm, there were no lines and she was in and out in under 10 minutes.

Perhaps it was to our advantage that most Walmart workers couldn't tell you the difference between an ereader and mp3 player! They may had been out of stock otherwise.

I was in Best Buy recently and they were pushing this super expensive HDMI cable on a person. Explaining how the cable is so much bette than the cheaper ones and how it provides a superior picture. I had to chime in and remind them that an hdmi cable is for digital transmission and you could use a coat hanger to get the bits moved around and it wouldn't affect picture quality.

It was funny how my bestbuy didn't know there was a nook color and the price next to the nook classic said E-Book reader and not nook color lol. It took me 20 minutes to get to a manager that knew what it was and it was behind the registers. The other workers thought it came out in january

Funny, pretty much exactly what I told the person. They were trying to sell her something for around $50 that monoprice had for $4.
