NOOKcolor doesn't like hotel WiFi
Apparently if you try to get on free hotel WiFi, the NC will connect but not access the internet. It simply reads. "connected, but no internet". So yeah, if you're at a hotel where you have a login page (username and password provided by hotel) to use the hotel provided WiFi, it doesn't seem like it will work.
This is a bit disappointing. |

Nope. It doesn't load the page to login. When you choose the hotel WiFi it obtains an ip and connects but the message given is "Connected, but no internet." That's it.

that's weird; i tried in my library system with their wi-fi, worked perfectly after the usual click on agree to terms; tried in a mall with their free-wifi (Simon properties) and worked same; cannot see why it would not work at a hotel

As a new nook color owner, this scares me. I travel weekly for work and it hotel wifi is not 100% reliable with this device than its going back.

If you do not get the browser hotel login page automatically than start the browser yourself and try to access an internet page (like google.com). This should trigger the hotel login page. |

Tried all that. I'm connected to the same wireless connection right now on both my laptop and my nookcolor. Obviously my laptop connects to the log in page and everything works fine. The Nookcolor brings up the "Web page not available" message in any window I open and on any page I try to go to, cached or not.

I was going to say "Maybe try a different browser, like Opera, or Dolphin."
"I'm guessing it's a browser issue." then I realized that won't work ![]() |

I've noticed that the browser tends to open new windows with new sessions, so old ones stack up on the list without getting closed. It seems like that would eventually cause memory or performance issues. Now I periodically bring up the list and kill them off. I like leaving a gmail and gdocs window open all the time for quick switching, but some kind of tab indicator on the browser would be nice. |

Yup, tried that as well. Works fine in Starbucks and the restaurant I'm in now (typing this on the nookcolor now) but no joy with the hotel.

Hmm, just what I was afraid of. I travel weekly and am in hotels all the time. Why they didn't put 3g in is obvious (it's a tablet...) but frustrating at the same time. I wish they included 3g that was at least locked to B&N's store only.
