Issues with Android Commander and 2.5.1 Softroot.

Updated to the 2.5.1 softrooting on an old hardware 3G model and even though Commander recognizes the nook, it will not recognize any of the already installed applications as it did with 2.4.1. My guess is that there are still bugs in the ADK over USB fix. Fortunately, the update retained everything I had, but as for now, I have lost any way of working with apps.

Hopefully, there will be a 2.5.2 update, in the meantime, any input will be helpful. The rest of you, make sure you have all your apps just as you want before going to 2.5.1.

Anyone have any idea if nookdev is working on a fix?

Version 2.4.2 had services.jar patched. 2.5.1 doesn't, i wonder if that's related. Here's how to patch it if you want to try it: http://nookdevs.com/Emulator
I think the patch is also needed for installing apps via trook if anyone's still doing that. Please share feedback if you decide to try it.

I never even was aware that there was a 2.4.2 version; nookdev doesn't seem to want to update the website or even mention what is current. My 2.4.1 worked perfectly and 2.5.1 implied that there was an ADB over USB fix, which seems to have left out Commander.

I'll keep checking, but I have to get all my nookdev updates here as they rarely update info on the website.

How do you other guys keep up to date? I can never find anything over there. They don't even recognize 2.5.0 or 2.5.1.

2.4.2alpha was released via this page:
http://nookdevs.com/Beta_testing

it had patched services.jar and the only file code that was changed in it was PackageManagerService.smali which makes me pretty sure that this is what's causing your issue. I dont know where patch came from exactly but google searches point that it was created by kbs doesnt seem to work on nookdevs anymore. So my best guess is that until someone else patches services.jar for 1.5.0 you'll continue to have this issue.

BTW are you able to upgrade/install apps using nookmarket in softroot 2.5.1? it seems services.jar may affect this part as well.

I don't think I should switch over to 2.4.2 when I am currently using 2.5.1, but thanks for the suggestion. Also, the only way I can transfer or update apps is with Commander over USB, as I have no WiFi access at home or work.

Any suggestion where on nookdev I can keep an eye on their progress?

I haven't tried with nookMarket yet.

With adb/eclipse, I was unable to update apps. But if I first removed them ("adb uninstall com.nookdevs.whatever"), then I could re-install them.

I would love to guess, but I am more in the dark than most others here. I still cannot even find anything at nookdev that indicates they even recognize any updates past 2.4.1.

Sorry
