PSP Charger piece broke off in reader
I had previously posted my charge wasn't lasting on the year old PRS-505. Lately it had been lasting, not sure why. But now I think I may know why.....

The barrel tip had half of the plastic missing. The other half was stuck in my ereader! Luckily hubby got the piece out of the reader. He thinks it will be okay to use now. I did charge it and it seems to charge okay.

Is it safe to use? I guess that plastic is insulation? I was gentle with the generic PSP charger (Psyclone brand from Target) not sure why it broke off.

It happens, plastic is subject to fatigue (like everything else)... personally I'd get a new PSU rather than use a damaged plug...

That is what I thought. It isn't dangerous to use until I do replace it is it?

I was just looking online and how do I know which ones will work for the "old" model. They probably don't even sell the original "Sony" one anymore. Their website didn't specify it worked on the PRS-505. I am kinda hesitant to buy another cheap generic charger. I have never had one break before on my MP3 players or cell phone. I think it was just a cheap charger.

Just find one with the barrel connector, 5-5.2V, 500-2,000mA (0.5A-2A) suitable for PSP and you should have no problem...
