Unhappy Calibre Downloading Problem


I am trying to download Calibre to my laptop (Windows 7) and I keep getting the following error message. I've tried downloading from various places but get the same message each time:

An error occurred during the installation of assembly ‘Microsoft.VC90.CRT, Version=”9.0.21022.8”,publicKeyToken=”1fc8b3b9a1e1 8e3b”,processorArchitecture=”x86”,type=”win32”. Please refer to Help and Support for more information.


Can someone please help?

That error indicates the installer was unable to install a needed system component (the VS CRT). Unfortunately, the only sure way I know of to fix it is a windows re-install, perhaps someone with more windows knowledge will have a less drastic solution to offer.
