Calibre- HTML fail?

I tried loading an html document into Calibre, and after a loong wait of "Adding to Library" it timed out.

The file size is only 3.4 mb, but Calibre just refuses it.... is there anything else I can do to get this doc into mobi format?

Add it from the command line with

calibredb add filename
