Spot The Fake Smile

This experiment is designed to test whether you can spot the difference between a fake smile and a real one
It has 20 questions and should take you 10 minutes
It is based on research by Professor Paul Ekman, a psychologist at the University of California
Each video clip will take approximately 15 seconds to load on a 56k modem and you can only play each smile once

I got 16 out of 20.

I got 15 out of 20 correct. I think I would have gotten more but I realized too late that there was a "Play" button and based my guess on a still photo.

I got 14 our of 20, by I was so frightened by number 13 that I thought everyone after that was malevolent.

Real genuine smiles: 8/10
Real fake smiles: 7/10
Overall: 15/20

Remarks:
+ Number 13 is creepy. I don't even know if it's male, female, or else.
+ I think there is a difference between knowing when a real genuine smile is really genuine and knowing when a real fake smile is really fake.
+ A naïve optimistic person will say that the 20 smiles are genuine and his mark will be 10/10 for genuine smiles and 0/10 for fake smiles, respectively.
+ A naïve pessimistic person will say that the 20 smiles are fake and his mark will be 0/10 for genuine smiles and 10/10 for fake smiles, respectively.
+ Convoluted? Yes, I'm like that.

I look at the eyes. Some, tho.....its hard to tell.

I think, in real life, you can way more easily tell if a smile is fake or real.

18/20. I always watch a person's eyes when they are smiling. I'm also perpetually on the alert for "fakeness" in people.

That dude with the long dark hair freaked me out a little bit! I was kind of scared to press the play button.

17/20 - I thought two genuine smiles were fakes, and only one fake was genuine. I also thought that more than one probably creased up in laughter just after the camera stopped.

And like others, I was judging it mostly on the eyes

And the woman at 18 was scary looking!

17/20. I like to think I'm pretty good at spotting fake smiles/laughs in real life. And it really is all about the eyes.

I got 15/20. Not terrible, but not great. I mostly look at the eyes as well, and I second-guesed myself with one of them (otherwise would have had 16/20).
