Sacred-Texts (compilation html) problem

Good day, and thank you for making "Calibre".

I've a few disks in HTML format from http://www.sacred-texts.com/ . The newest DVD is around 3Gb. 173,566 files and 2,884 folders.

Of course I tried doing it all at once<chuckle>...from the "index list" on the DVD to no avail. I recieved a "hanging error" try it in smaller increments.

So I tried one of the folders (still quite a few books in it) from the index and recieved the same error.

I then tried "a" book in "a" folder of many files and still recieved the error.(starting from the "index" of that book)

Then I browsed to "a" book of many files and highlighted all the files and still recieved the error.

I was hoping a search here would have turned up something on the sacred-texts site, and adding it to the library to convert, but it did not.

I "tested" Calibre on a 700kb pdf and it zipped right through it, so it is probably something I did or didn't do.

If the link above is not allowed, please pardon me and remove it. Though, if you go to that link you'll see pretty much comes up on my computer from from my disk if you've never heard of the site. (I am not affiliated).

I'd like to convert these books for use on a NOOK as reading from a computer is not good for my "old eyes". Thank you all! ~Jim

I've successfully created epubs with Calibre from HTML files downloaded from the sacred-texts sites, though I haven't worked directly from one of their CDs.

My guess is that the index.html file in on folder is backreferencing "up the folder chain" and thus trying to include in lots of other files irrelevant to the book you want, and this is overflowing something.

I'd try copying just the book you want somewhere else and building with that -- you might get some file not found errors but it should work. If that doesn't work, as a next step edit the index file you are starting with so no other folders or files are referenced.

Thank you Colinsky, it's probably because my disk is set up exactly like the website, with search areas and an index so there's always a "home button-search button, and more".

I'll have to learn some new tricks I believe, perhaps I can download a book from the site that I have and compare it to what is on the disk.

I'll let you know if I figure it out.
