Selling / Buying 2nd Hand Kindle

Hi all, just wondering if there are any gotchas in selling a Kindle to someone else?

I take it you just de-register the device from your account and do a factory reset so that all your data is gone before selling it?

The buyer then just has to create an amazon account and register the device with their account?

How does warranty work? If there are 6 months remaining, is it automatically transferred or tracked or something via the device serial number?

Thanks,
Julian

Extended warranties, like from SquareTrade or Service Net are transferable. I believe you need to let the company know you are transferring the Kindle.

Awesome, thanks...

Silly question, but I don't need to tell Amazon that I'm selling it, right? I'm assuming the de-registering / re-registering process will take care of that...

You do not have to call Amazon.

I would highly recommend that you post the Kindle's seriel number when you go to sell it. There have been a wave of folks who have ended up buying stolen Kindles. If you are willing to post the seriel number a prospective buyer can call Amazon and see if that Kindle is on a black list or not. Obviously yours would not be.
