kobo reader sreen half blocked with lines and grey

my screen on my 4th kobo countinues to have lines a grey blocking after using.. I replaced this one Oct 19 and this one has the same problem help

If there is a part of your screen that isn't updating, it's likely the glass behind the eInk screen has cracked. If so, you will have to replace the device.

eInk screens have a lot of great positives when it comes to reading, but they are a little fragile.

My Kobo died yesterday overnight, showing a similar problem. It sat on the floor beside my bed, powered off; when I pushed the power button in the morning, i ended up with a whole lot of dark and light stripes criss-crossing the screen (sort of a pretty plaid pattern, kind of like a tartan), with the "bo" from "kobo" still showing. Resets etc. didn't do anything, it was frozen solid in tartan; so I took it back to the store and exchanged it.

The only thing I can figure that might have done this is that I had a heating pad sitting close to the kobo; the heating pad was off for most of the night, but plugged in. Could that have caused the issue? Either the temperature difference between the floor and heating pad, or some electromagnetic charge messing up the e-ink?
