Towers of Midnight Ebook Delay

It would appear that the ebook version of "Towers of Midnight" will be delayed (by as much as a year). It was originally advertised that the ebook and hardcover would both be released on November 2nd (at least here in Canada) but it seems the "estate" have now changed their minds.

It's not like they've been staggering the ebook releases of all previous books in the series to coincide with the release of this book. Oh wait...

In protest, I'm not going to purchase the HC version but have signed up for it at my local library. If I need to wait, I may as well get it for FREE.

I wondering how many others will do this? Or, will people who really want it just give in to Tor/Jordan Estate and fork over the cash?

Same here.

Also, I re-bought the first three books in ebook format before the agency model and now I cannot access them anymore due to geographic restrictions.

Plus the prologue was unavailable in my country. And it was non-free for the first time (at least the originals were always free).

I'll wait a year for the ebook version because I just can't hold a hardcover book of that size comfortably anymore. If I remember the discussions on the Amazon Kindle boards last year correctly, Jordan's widow always intended the ebook versions of Sanderson's work to be released a year after the hardcover. She's kind of like J. K. Rowling in her regard for ebooks.

$20 says it'll be on the darknet before week end. They do themselves no favors thinking this kind of thing makes a difference.

Well, with the last Harry Potter book, it was before the legit copies made it to the booksellers. A warehouse guy scanned one, and the darknet had it before those of us who were watching our mailboxes (who, me?).

Brandon talked to Harriet, and she agreed to release the ebook in three months (February) as opposed to waiting for a year as originally planned. Still sucks though

Hmm, 3 months? The I doubt I'll have my library book by then.

Maybe they will get a few $$$ out of me after all.

I still think a 3 month delay sucks. OK, it's better than a 12 month delay but still ... If they want to protect the hardcover sales, then they would be better selling the ebook from today (2nd Nov) at a high price (say $19.95US). I would happily buy it at this price. Instead, I am buying a heavily discounted copy of the trade PB (they don't routinely release HB's in NZ) at $29.95NZ (or about $22.50US).

Of course, even if they released the ebook today, it wouldn't help me, because it's geo-restricted, just like all the others.

I'll buy it. But this is one of those series that I have all in HC and have on the shelf. Plus I like to read these in HC rather than ebook format anyway.

Book Depository hardback is less than that, by the looks.

Bah, still not done reading the previous books. we'll see where we're at by then.
