Which Format to Import?

I have an eBook in PDF and LIT formats. Which format makes the cleanest conversion for a Kindle? Or is that a case by case determination?

And.... let's say I've imported both. Which format does Calibre use for the conversion?

I must say I keep finding features I didn't realize in Calibre. Just realized this week I don't need to unzip most archives! Without the program I probably wouldn't have chosen the Kindle. Thanks for all the hard work and support within this forum.

Case by case. I have had it go both ways.

It seems like the vast majority of LIT files that I run across are badly-converted PDFs, so I usually start with the PDF.

The one you specify in the conversion settings.

Ah, that might make a difference then (but then again maybe not < g>). I've been bulk converting a hodge podge of formats on occasion and there's no input option.

There is a preference setting, where you can reorder the format list. The one that will be used, will be closer to the top than the other format.

Individual conversion mode allow you to override this.
Using a format (and settings) will be remembered for each book unless you click the "use (current) defaults" button.
