Assistance with look of conversion...
All right, so I got brave and tried to convert one of my secure .LIT books to my Mobipocket format, based on some info I've seen here. I used ConvertLit with ConvertLit GUI, and sure enough, I ended up with several files including an OPF file and some Firefox documents. I used Mobi Creator on the OPF file, and it seems as if I got a good output in Mobi format. What I don't see is the graphic for the book cover. Is that something I'm going to have to live with losing when I convert this way, or is there a way for the cover graphic to show up in my MobiPocket library?

If you can identify the cover graphic file among the files that ConvertLit spits out, you should be able to add it back in as the cover using Mobipocket Creator.

That's right - you do lose the cover when you convert from LIT to Mobi. As has been said, just add it with Mobi Creator.
