Need advice on downloading from Borders Australia

Amazon won't sell me an ebook (Just Kids by Patti Smith), because I live in Australia. Borders Australia has the ebook in epub format so I will buy it from them.

The question is: should I buy and download via my desktop computer or via my iPad?

If I buy it on my desktop computer, will I be able to drag and drop to my iPad, or will I only be able to read the ebook on my desktop compuer?

If I buy it on my iPad, will I be able to transfer it to my desktop computer and save a copy there?

I tried getting help from the Borders site but their information on ebooks is vague and superficial.

Are there any Aussies out there with experience in this area???

I've only used Borders with my Kobo. You probably still need to either set up the Border/Kobo software on your desktop or Adobe Digital Editions. If you can get the book into Adobe Digital Editions I guess you can then get it onto your IPad, but I am not sure how this works as I have only used an IPad a few times. Why not try all this with a very cheap book/free from Borders (some only cost a couple of dollars) and then, if it works, use it for the more expensive items. Did you try ringing Borders? They are really trying to sell ebooks and will help if they can.

Both, separately.

Once you buy the book, you can download it to any or all of your devices. I 'm fairly sure that ADE limits you to 6 devices; the Borders app may not count towards this limit - I'm not sure.

So:
1) Buy the book.
2) On your computer, use ADE to download the book using the download link from the Borders "My eLibrary" page - using the "Download file. (Adobe Digital Edition users)" link. Put this file on your Sony.
3) On your iPad, install the Borders app. The book should just show up in your library - or
3b) If you don't like the Borders app, you should be able to use the Bluefire reader app. Someone else will have to help you at that point.

You won't be able to just take the file on the computer and put it on your iPad. DRM stops that from working. You can't do it the other way round either.

Thanks, guys. Your comments gave me the confidence to buy the book using the Borders app on my iPad. It downloaded almost instantly. I then launched the Borders software on my desktop. When that did a library sync, the book showed up there too.

I'm now a happy camper, though my visa card is taking a battering this month.
