Fetch metadata error message
When attempting to “Fetch Metadata from Server” from the “Edit Metadata Information” screen, I have just started getting the following error message. The small screen “Downloading social metadata, please wait…” just prior to the error message is on my screen for several seconds – used to be just a couple of seconds. I don’t think this is a Calibre problem as this procedure used to work fine – I updated from version 0.7.20 to 0.7.24 thinking maybe that would “fix” the problem, but still same thing.
I’m not aware that I’ve done anything to my computer that could cause this, but one never knows… Can you help me with what could be my problem? The 2 books I’ve had problems with are “The Vigilantes” by W.E.B. Griffin, and “The Alpine Decoy” by Mary Daheim. – these are the last 2 books I’ve added to Calibre. The format of the books is ePub. Thanks, Ginny Meyers ginnybo@gmail.com ERROR MESSAGE-- WARNING: There were errors: There were errors downloading social metadata Amazon Traceback (most recent call last): File "site-packages\calibre\ebooks\metadata\fetch.py", line 219, in fetch File "site-packages\calibre\ebooks\metadata\amazon.py", line 39, in get_social_metadata File "site-packages\mechanize-0.1.11-py2.6.egg\mechanize\_mechanize.py", line 209, in open File "site-packages\mechanize-0.1.11-py2.6.egg\mechanize\_mechanize.py", line 261, in _mech_open httperror_seek_wrapper: HTTP Error 404: NOT FOUND |

amazon has decided to limit the number of queries to their service to 2000 a day. Which means the amazon plugin is now useless. I've disabled it. you should no longer see the error.
