Question iTunes and different devices

How big a problem is it going to be if I wind up with an iTouch and a Nano syncing on the same computer? Biggest problem is if iTunes tries to put apps on the Nano, far as I can figure out.

I *could* have the two iPod models using different computers for syncing, but that has its own hassles.

Different devices sync as you wish - that is, sync settings appear under each device as it is connected. I have an iPhone, an iPad, an iPod Touch and an old iPod Photo. I sync with each what I want to sync (and because I'm lazy and try to sync everything, some apps give me a pop-up saying they're not going to be loaded on, for instance, the iPod Touch, because they're not compatible with it).

Cheers,
Marc

So iTunes is smart enough to not try to load something on a device that can't cope with it? That's a relief.

Right. Basically you can sync as many devices as you have with any one installation of iTunes. I have an iPod Touch, an iPad, and a Nano all syncing to the same library, but they all get different content. I make specific playlists for some devices, and I make some general playlists that I want on all my devices. Each device has its own preferences and syncs the music/video/apps that are specified by its individual preferences.

Since the Nano doesn't have apps, there shouldn't even be an option to sync apps to the Nano. When I added the iPad to my mix, it was more than happy to let me add any of my iPod Touch apps, but when I downloaded iPad-only apps, it never tried to add them to my iPod Touch. And when I've used a click-wheel iPod, it will let me sync games specific to the click-wheel iPod, but it never tries to add iPod Touch apps, nor does it try to add click wheel games to the iPod Touch.

You should be fine.
