Question Another Stupid Newbe Question: Send to device

I appologise in advance. The answer to this must exist on the Calibre documentation of this forum, but I haven't been able to find it!

In the past couple of weeks, I've been building up and refining my Calibre library. Now I'm updating my new Kobo Wireless accordingly.

My problem/concern/question is that when I "Send to device" to the Kobo, the selected ebook gets sent, but then is deleted from the Calibre library. Is this the way it's supposed to work?

From previous fiddling, I can see the neat feature that allows me to view the device, and through check-marks in the ebook list, see what ebooks also exist in the library. This way, I can easily delete things off the device, knowing that my Calibre library is safely intact.

The way this (send to device) seems to work for me, is that when I no longer want the book on my device, I need to move it back to the library? It's logical, and duplicates the real-life process, but what happens if my Kobo dies, do all my "send to device" ebooks get lost?

Sorry if I've completely missed the obvious on this one!

Huh, books shouldn't be deleted after being sent to the device, unless you specified you want to do that, and then only for news downloads. Did you, by accident, tag the relevant books as news?

when you click on "send to device" you are given options to " email to" or "email to and delete from library"

Would you by any chance be clicking on the wrong option?

Nope, and Nope! (but close)

I found it. Earlier, when I was trying to get the Kobo Wireless to connect, before the driver had been updated, I must have accidentally changed the "set default send to action" to "send and delete".

Your responses set me back on the right track to figure this out!

Thanks!
